| DRB | Designated Recommending Bodies: These bodies are accreditated by Ofted to offer GTP courses. GTP schedules are co-ordinated between the host school and the DRB (as of 2006). |

| GCSE | General Certificate of Secondary Education: The UK recognised certificates usually offered at Key Stage 4 on a subject-by-subject basis. |

| GTCE | General Teaching Council of England: The authority responsible for the registration of all teachers and maintenance of high professional teaching standards in England |

| GTP | The Graduate Teacher Programme. A school-based teacher training programme usually leading to Qualified Teacher Status in the UK. |

| KS2 | Key Stage 2: The Primary School phase of education in the UK usually involving children between the ages of 7-11. |

| KS3 | Key Stage 3: The lower Secondary School phase of education in the UK, usually involving pupils between the ages of 11-14 (Year 7-9) |

| SEN | Special Education Needs: Any aspect of education specialising in catering for learning disabilities, sensory impairment or any other barrier to learning. Sometimes Gifted and Talented needs are placed within the remit of SEN. |
