Regrettably, I think its time to admit that I alone do not have the time to dedicate to this site that it deserves. There are many people out there that are crying out for a well-maintained, up-to-date site to support the campaign for recognition. Sadly, most users of this site want a quick solution (which doesn't exist), rather than contributing to efforts themselves. Of course a lot of you are actively investigating things for yourselves, but this information needs to be shared, and I believe we need to take co-ordinated group action in order to be effective. My several previous requests for contributors to the site or for the formation of a co-ordinated action group were unanswered. Many new events have taken place which are relevant to the status of the GTP, such as the revision of training initiatives in Western Australia. Things ARE changing, and I really believe this is the time to get organised and have people combine to really promote the GTP and push for change. However, I'm not prepared to be a one-man campaign. The abandoned state of this site proves I've not been effective in keeping abreast with changes and relaying them to you, and for that I apologise. So I need help: - Researchers and writers to contact relevant agencies and organisation for information to provide a knowledge base (People in the UK as well as other places such as Australia, New Zealand and other countries are needed)
- Editors for sections to make sure that information is up-to-date (I can provide accounts that will allow you to update this site directly yourself, which I'm certainly very happy to do)
- People to administer forums
- Someone with web publishing skills to take over the administration of this site (which is easy, as it uses the Joomla CMS)
and the most important of all: - Some pro-active militant campaigners to co-ordinate real world action (letters, meeting, lobbying, etc.)
- All members of this site to support and partcipate in this action
This needn't take too much of your time, as I appreciate teachers are very busy, but 'many hands make light work' and all that, and I'm sure many of you are far more capable at this type of thing than me.
Unless I get a response to this, I don't feel there is much use in keeping this site online, as what information is on it is becoming outdated and the site as a whole is unhelpful. If you appreciate this site (and I know many of you do) and you have the time and willingness, then now is the time to get involved! Despite the negative nature of this article, I DO think that if we work together this site could be a great tool for frustrated GTPs, and any associated campaign for recognition WILL eventually be successful. You can write to me using the contact form or preferably, get talking to each other in the forum section I have set up called Take Action . This is the last 'push' I'm prepared to give this site, so please help out if you can. What do you say? |
